A vehicle controller 100 executes processing to predict a start of an internal combustion engine 10 while a control mode of a vehicle drive system 1 is set to a motor drive control mode EV, increase a rotational frequency of an electric oil pump 51 when the start of the internal combustion engine 10 is predicted, and stop driving of the electric oil pump 51 after the internal combustion engine 10 is started and the control mode of the vehicle drive system 1 is set to a hybrid drive control mode HEV.
