The invention relates to an electric motor system () for a vehicle, which comprises an electric motor (M) having two power terminals configured to be connected to a power supply line (KL) and a reference potential line (KL), and a signal terminal. The electric motor system () further comprises a switch element (D) with a first end configured to connect the power supply line (KL), and a second end connected to a corresponding power terminal of the electric motor (M), and a driving circuit (HS) configured to monitor whether the electric motor (M) has a malfunction and control the switch element (D) correspondingly, a logic portion of a motor driving circuit is configured to be connected and powered by a key line (KL) carrying a voltage indicative of the ignition status of the vehicle. The invention further provides a fan module for a vehicle.
