An assembly (22) is provided for measuring the air flow in an air intake duct (13,23) of an internal combustion engine (2). The assembly (22) comprises a housing (38) with an inlet opening (39), an outlet opening (40), a channel (41) with an inner wall (42) defining a predetermined cross-sectional area and a closure member (43) that is movably mounted in the channel (41) between a closed and opened position. A first annular chamber (45) is situated upstream from the closure member (43) and a second annular chamber (46) is placed downstream of the closure member (43). Each chamber has an inner chamber wall (47,48) with a number of apertures (53,54,55,56) that are in fluid communication with the channel (41). A first pressure sensor (61) is connected to the first chamber (45) for measuring a pressure in the first chamber (45), a second pressure sensor (60) being connected to the first chamber (45) and to the second chamber (46) for measuring a difference in pressure in the first and second chamber (45,46).
