A method of controlling an Autonomous Vehicle (AV) , comprising the steps of: detecting a fault in a first AV -; in response to detecting said fault, transmitting a communication for alerting an AV of the fault, wherein said communication is a device-to-device wireless communication; receiving said communication at a second AV -; identifying the second AV as being capable of retrieving at least part of the first AV and delivering said at least part to an intended destination; and instructing the second AV to perform the retrieving and delivering.
