The invention relates to a measuring device (20) comprising a targeting unit (30) and a scanning module (10). The scanning module (10) has a field of view with a central line (32) in the field of view. The measuring device (20) has a pivoting axis (22) around which an upper part of the measuring device (20) can be pivoted or rotated. The central line (32) deviates by at most 45 degree from orthogonality with respect to the pivoting axis (22).
