The method comprises: - determining a speed setpoint value (ω(k)), indicative of a rotational speed setpoint for the output shaft (18), and an actual speed value (ω(k)), indicative of an actual rotational speed of the output shaft (18), - determining an acceleration value (〈ω̇s(k)〉) using an acceleration value determination procedure comprising employing an acceleration conversion function (ƒ(ωs(k), ω(k), asm)) that uses the speed setpoint value (ω(k)), the actual speed value (ω(k)) and an acceleration setting member (asm) as inputs and which produces a resulting value (ω̇s(k)) to be used for determining the acceleration value (〈ω̇s(k)〉), the acceleration conversion function (f(ωs(k), ω(k), asm) being such that different resulting values (ω̇s(k)) can be obtained for the same set of the speed setpoint value (ω(k)) and the actual speed value (ω(k)) but for different choices of the acceleration setting member (asm), - determining a torque request value (Ts(k))using a torque conversion operation that uses the acceleration value (〈ω̇s(k)〉), and - controlling the propulsion unit (14) using the torque request value.",
