AEROSOL-GENERATING SYSTEM WITH AEROSOL-GENERATING DEVICE AND OPERATING BUTTON PROTECTION

An electrically operable aerosol-generating system comprises a charging device (201) comprising a primary power source, and an elongated aerosol-generating device (220) comprising a secondary power source. The aerosol-generating device has a proximal end, a distal end, and a body extending between the proximal end and the distal end. A user operable button (290) is located on the body between the proximal end and the distal end. When the aerosol-generating device is engaged with the charging device, at least a first side-portion (292) of the body extending between the proximal end and the distal end of the aerosol-generating device faces the charging device, and at least a second side-portion (293) of the body extending between the proximal end and the distal end of the aerosol-generating device is faces away from the charging device and is exposed. The button is located on the second side-portion of the body and is operable when the aerosol-generating system is in the first engagement state. The user operable button activates a first function when the aerosol-generating system is configured in the second engagement state and in which the user operable button activates a second function, different to the first function, when the aerosol-generating system is configured in the first engagement state.
