A method and a mobile energy storage device (2) for releasing electromechanical brakes, and a system (1) of the mobile energy storage device (2) and a brake system (3) of a train are disclosed. The brakes are released by means of respectively assigned electromechanical brake actuators (4), wherein the method comprising the steps: successively connecting the brake actuators (4) to the mobile energy storage device (2) supplying electrical energy for releasing the brakes; and releasing the brakes by actuating the brake actuators (4) using the energy from the mobile energy storage device (2).
