A charger integrated circuit (200) is configured to charge a battery device (100) including a first battery (110) and a second battery connected in series (120). The circuit (200) includes a direct charger (210) configured to generate a first charging current and a first current based on an input voltage (VIN) received from an input terminal (20), the first current used to generate a first system current, and a buck converter (220) configured to generate a second current and a second system current based on the input voltage, the second current used to generate a second charging current. The circuit (200) includes a switched capacitor (230) configured to generate the first system current based on the first current, and to generate the second charging current based on the second current, and a linear charger (240) configured to provide the first charging current and the second charging current to the battery device (100).
