ANTENNA CONNECTION FOR INTEGRATED RFID TAG AND TPMS SENSOR

An integrated radio frequency identification tag and tire pressure monitoring system sensor (10a) is disclosed comprising a radio frequency identification tag (32), the radio frequency identification tag including an integrated circuit (34); a printed circuit board (36) carrying the integrated circuit; a tire pressure monitoring system sensor (38) being mounted on the radio frequency identification tag; an antenna (40) including at least one coil antenna wire (42A, 42B), the at least one antenna wire being formed in a helical shape and being electrically connected to the integrated circuit (34); the at least one antenna wire (42A, 42B) including a first end (44A) that is mounted to the printed circuit board (36); and a mechanical interlock (50) between the first end (44A) of the antenna wire (42A, 42B) and the printed circuit board (36), the mechanical interlock (50) including one or more features securing the first end (44A) of the antenna wire (42A, 42B) to the printed circuit board (36). Also, a pneumatic tire comprising such an integrated radio frequency identification tag and tire pressure monitoring system sensor (10A) mounted to a surface of the tire (12) or integrated into the tire (12) is disclosed.
