DRIVE
April 8, 2026
An internal combustion engine assembly (1) is provided with a fuel tank (4) for fuel comprising ethanol, and a reformer (14b) for steam reforming of ethanol that is with an outlet (37,40) connected to a buffer tank (42). [0002] A first reformer supply duct (24,22,36) extends from the fuel tank (4) to the reformer (14b) via a fuel evaporator (19a) that is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases, for supplying ethanol vapor to the reformer (14b). A second reformer supply duct (30,33,36) extends from a water reservoir (25) to the reformer (14b) via a water evaporator (17) that is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases. [0003] The reformer (14b) is in heat exchanging contact with the catalytic converter (14a) and is adapted for reforming ethanol and water into syngas comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen, and for supplying the syngas via the outlet (37,40) to the buffer tank (42). The reformer (14b) and the catalytic converter (14a) may form an integrated unit (14).
