The method comprises: determining whether a current driving mode satisfies a first preset driving mode; when the first preset driving mode satisfies the first preset driving mode, acquiring a current remaining capacity of a battery; determining whether the current remaining capacity is greater than a first preset capacity threshold value; when the current remaining capacity is greater than the first preset capacity threshold value, not starting an engine; when the current remaining capacity is not greater than the first preset capacity threshold value, acquiring a catalyst temperature and a vehicle running state; determining, according to the vehicle running state, whether the catalyst temperature is less than a first preset temperature threshold value; when the catalyst temperature is not less than the first preset temperature threshold value, driving the engine to rotate clockwise to start same in a fuel cut-off manner; and when the catalyst temperature is less than the first preset temperature threshold value, heating a catalyst by means of a heating plate until the catalyst temperature is not less than the first preset temperature threshold value. By means of the method, when in an electric-only or hybrid mode, an engine is started in a fuel cut-off manner.
