The present technology relates to a positive electrode for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery including the same, and the positive electrode contains a positive electrode additive represented by Formula 1 and a positive electrode mixture layer including a region with a needle-shaped crack structure in its cross-section after initial charging (activation), so an amount of gas such as oxygen generated by an irreversible additive, which is a positive electrode additive, during the subsequent charging/discharging is reduced, and the migration path of lithium ions and/or electrons is able to be ensured. Therefore, an excellent effect of improving the battery safety and electrical performance of a lithium secondary battery is exhibited.
