TIRE RUBBER REINFORCEMENT CONTAINING CARBON NANOTUBES

A pneumatic tire (10) is disclosed having a component comprising a rubber composition, the rubber composition comprising 100 phr of at least one diene-based elastomer and a filler comprising 1 phr to 25 phr of carbon nanotubes having of from 0.25 wt.% to 15 wt.% oxygen content and a measurable amount but at most 10 phr silica particles. Also, a method of preparing a rubber composition for a pneumatic tire is disclosed, the method comprising: mixing a dispersion of carbon nanotubes and oil with at least one diene-based elastomer and a measurable amount but at most 10 phr silica particles.
