The present invention relates to a negative electrode for a lithium metal battery comprising a porous substrate; a carbon coating layer formed on the surface of the porous substrate; and a lithium metal layer positioned on the carbon coating layer, wherein the carbon coating layer comprises carbon particles having a plate-like structure, and a lithium metal battery comprising the same.
