BRAKING DEVICE AND SPARE BRAKE CONTROL DEVICE

A braking device (1) includes a brake mechanism (2) that presses a shoe (21) against a braking target member of a railroad vehicle to brake the railroad vehicle, a DC motor (43) that drives the brake mechanism (2) and that is different from a motor (33), a battery (41) that supplies electricity to the DC motor (43) and that is different from a vehicle power supply (31), and a relay circuit (42) that controls supply of electricity from the battery (41) to the DC motor (43) in response to a spare brake command. The battery (41) supplies DC electricity, the DC motor (43) drives the brake mechanism (2) based on the DC electricity, and the relay circuit (42) switches a path between the battery (41) and the DC motor (43) in response to a spare brake command.
