The method is used to adjust a central rear view mirror to an optimal angle of view for a driver when it is determined that a target object has an intention of viewing a rear view mirror. The method may be applied to vehicles such as a smart vehicle, an autonomous vehicle, and a new energy vehicle. The method in embodiments of this application includes: obtaining facial characteristic information of a target object; if the facial characteristic information meets an instruction trigger condition, generating a control instruction for a central rear view mirror; and in response to the control instruction, adjusting the central rear view mirror based on relative positions of the central rear view mirror and the target object.",
