ACTIVE NECK PROTECTION SYSTEM
DRIVE
June 18, 2025
A neck protection system (100) comprises a support structure (120), a helmet (110), a force transmission arrangement (130), an actuator arrangement (140), a sensor arrangement (115), and a controller (150). The force transmission arrangement (130) is coupled to the support structure (120) and the helmet (110) and applies a relative force between the support structure (120) and the helmet (110). The actuator arrangement (140) applies a load to the force transmission arrangement (130) to initiate the relative force between the support structure (120) and the helmet (110). The sensor arrangement (115) measures movement changes of a vehicle. The controller (150) is communicatively connected to the sensor arrangement (115) to receive data representing the measured movement changes, and further connected to the actuator arrangement (140), and generates and sends control commands to the actuator arrangement (140) based on which the actuator arrangement (140) applies the load to the force transmission arrangement (130). The controller (150) receives maneuver information from a control computer (310) of a vehicle (300) and generates the control commands based on the received maneuver information and/or based on measurements of the sensor arrangement (115).
