In a pneumatic tire including a carcass layer (4) and a belt cover layer (8), the carcass layer (4) is constituted by a carcass cord made of polyester fiber, the elongation at break of the carcass cord is from 20% to 30%, a product (A) of fineness based on corrected mass (D) and a count (Ec) is from 1.8 × 10 dtex/50 mm to 3.0 × 10 dtex/50 mm, the belt cover layer (8) is constituted by a composite cord obtained by intertwining aramid fiber and another organic fiber, a cord diameter of the composite cord is 0.75 mm or less, tensile strength at break per width of 50 mm is 14 kN/50 mm or more, and an elastic modulus per width of 50 mm at 2 to 5% elongation is from 1.7 kN/(50 mm·%) to 2.3 kN/(50 mm·%).",
