The present invention relates to a silica coated sulfur-carbon composite comprising a sulfur-carbon composite and silica particles coated on at least part of a surface of the sulfur-carbon composite, a method for preparing such silica coated sulfur-carbon composite, the use of a silica coated sulfur-carbon composite, and in addition to that an electrode, for example a positive electrode, and a lithium-sulfur battery comprising silica coated sulfur-carbon composite. Hence, in a non-limiting example, the silica coated sulfur-carbon composite according to the present invention may be used as a positive electrode active material of a lithium-sulfur secondary battery.
