ROOF SYSTEM FOR A VEHICLE

A roof system for a vehicle with a movable panel (3), having an operating mechanism that is slidably guided in a stationary guide rail (26). The operating mechanism comprises a first and second device (5) for moving the panel towards a raised position, the second device (6) including a lever (7). A guiding slide (14) is drivable to move the panel (3) both in vertical and in horizontal direction through the first and second devices. The lever (7) comprises, at a first end, a first pivotal connection (8) to the panel, and, remote from the first end, spaced second and third connections (9, 10). The third connection (10, 15) connects the respective lever to the guiding slide (14). A fourth connection (23, 24) on the lever (7) is arranged in the neighborhood of the third connection (10, 15) and connects the lever to the guiding slide (14) when the third connection is disconnected from the guiding slide during a movement of the front edge of the panel (3) in a vertical upward direction.
