A shaft assembly for an aircraft powerplant (1), comprising: a shaft (20) extending along an axis (A) from a first shaft end (20A) to a second shaft end (20B); a bearing assembly (30) extending about the axis and supporting the first shaft end (20A) of the shaft (20), the bearing assembly (30) including an inner race (32) secured to the shaft (20) and an outer race (38) radially outward of the inner race (32) relative to the axis (A); a seal (50) extending about the axis (A) and located radially outward of the shaft (20), the seal (50) disposed axially between the bearing assembly (30) and the second shaft end (20B); a housing (40) having a housing wall located between the bearing assembly (30) and the seal (50); and a washer (60) extending about the axis (A) and located axially between the bearing assembly (30) and the seal (50), the washer (60) extending axially from the outer race (38) to the housing wall.
