The present invention relates to an aircraft (1) and a method for controlling such an aircraft (1) comprising two turbine engines (11, 12), an electrical machine (4), an electrical power source (5) and a rotor driven in rotation by one of the two turbine engines (11, 12) and/or by the electrical machine (4). The aircraft comprises at least one controller (6) configured to implement at each instant a current operating mode of said electrical machine (4) and said electrical power source (5) chosen from seven operating modes, making it possible to carry out a standard or rapid start respectively of a turbine engine (11) in an off state or in a standby state. Said electrical machine (4) can also provide a first or a second power assistance to a turbine engine (11) to transmit an engine torque to said gas generator (111) of this turbine engine (11), or even apply mechanical resistance to a turbine engine (11) or participate in a ventilation of a turbine engine (11) in an off state.
