EMERGENCY BRAKE METHOD AND SYSTEM

Emergency brake method and system method of exerting an emergency braking action in order to slow and/or stop a hydrostatic drive (HY) vehicle (VEH) during a service brake (SB) failure condition, where the brake service includes friction elements arranged to brake the vehicle (VEH) in response to a brake request; the method including, in the event of a service brake failure, a first step of automatically activating a SAHR spring parking brake system (SAHR), a second step to automatically activate hydrostatic braking, to exert said braking action, to complement said service brake system, by carrying out said emergency braking, and wherein said first and second steps are performed automatically and simultaneously in response to said braking request.
