METHOD FOR OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL ON BOARD OF A VEHICLE
DRIVE
April 30, 2025
In a vehicle (100) position and/or movement of an occupant are monitored by a cabin monitoring system (20). Information on the state of motion of the vehicle (100) is obtained from one or more sensors (31) on board the vehicle (100), for example inertial sensors. By correlating information on the state of motion with information on the occupant position/movement, it is determined whether the position/movement of the occupant is due to voluntary or involuntary movement. In the involuntary case, a pre-crash restraint system (40) for the occupant is activated, for example an electric safety belt retractor. In the voluntary case, a warning signal may be triggered. In either case a strategy for triggering an in-crash restraint system (60) for the occupant may be adapted to occupant position/movement.
