The invention relates to a vehicle approach notification device and a picking truck.The vehicle approach notification device (20) includes a first illumination portion (22) provided on a cab (14) of a vehicle and capable of elevation; a second (23) and a third (24) illumination portion provided on the vehicle body (11) and incapable of elevation; and a control unit (21) that (1) turns on the first illumination portion (22) and off other illumination portions (23, 24) when a travel state of the vehicle body is backward travel and an elevation position (H) is lower than a predetermined threshold value; (2) turns on the second illumination portion (23) and off other illumination portions (22, 24) when the travel state is backward travel and the elevation position (H) is equal to or higher than the threshold value; (3) turns on the third illumination portion (24) and off other illumination portions (22, 23) when the travel state of vehicle is forward travel; and (4) turns off all illumination portions (22, 23, 24) when the travel state is travel stop.
