  "textContent": "A method is described for assigning tire pressure monitoring units of a tire pressure monitoring system of a vehicle to the various positions at which a wheel is mounted on the vehicle, wherein the tire pressure monitoring units each contain a pressure sensor, a receiver, and a transmitter, the transmitter transmits data obtained from measurements of the pressure sensor together with a characteristic identification of the tire pressure monitoring unit, the tire pressure monitoring system contains a central unit which receives transmissions from the tire pressure monitoring units and by evaluating reception levels assigns the characteristic identifications of the various tire pressure monitoring units each to one of the positions at which a wheel is mounted on the vehicle. According to the invention, it is provided that the transmissions from the tire pressure monitoring units are additionally also received by a device that is movable relative to the vehicle, preferably a radio key or a smartphone, the device movable relative to the vehicle transmits the reception levels at which the characteristic identifications of tire pressure monitoring units were received, or data obtained by evaluating the reception levels, to the central unit, and the central unit evaluates information obtained from the device movable relative to the vehicle for the assignment of the characteristic identification of the various tire pressure monitoring units.",
