METHOD FOR ALLOCATING TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING UNITS TO A VEHICLE

A method is described for assigning tire pressure monitoring units to a vehicle, wherein the tire pressure monitoring units each send data telegrams that each contain a characteristic identification of the sending tire pressure monitoring unit, and the data telegrams are received by a central receiving unit of the vehicle, the central receiving unit for each characteristic identification contained in one of the data telegrams received by it records in a counter how many data telegrams with this identification have been received, in order to decide on the basis of the frequency of the received identifications which tire pressure monitoring units belong to the vehicle. According to the invention it is provided that the tire pressure monitoring units of the vehicle each receive data telegrams from other tire pressure monitoring units and for each characteristic identification contained in one of the received data telegrams record in counters how many data telegrams with this identification have been received, and the tire pressure monitoring units inform the central receiving unit in data telegrams which characteristic identifications they have received most frequently, and the central receiving unit takes into account when assigning tire pressure monitoring units to the vehicle which characteristic identifications the tire pressure monitoring units have received most frequently.
