CONDENSATION CONTROL OF STEAM INJECTED TURBINE ENGINE
DRIVE
December 24, 2025
A turbine engine assembly (20; 120; 220) includes a compressor section (24) where a core flow (38) is compressed, a combustor section (26) where the compressed core flow (38) is mixed with fuel and ignited to generate an exhaust gas flow (64), a turbine section (28) through which the exhaust gas flow (64) expands to generate power that is utilized to drive the compressor section (24), a steam injection system where water is transformed into a steam flow (68) and communicated into the core flow (38), and a control system (30; 334) for adjusting engine operation (330) to control accumulation of condensation. The control system (30; 334) includes a controller (84) that is programmed to operate a control device (80, 82; 122, 124; 336) in a variable manner to control condensation accumulation.
