"textContent": "The present invention relates to a method for controlling a driver assistance system of a motor vehicle, wherein the driver assistance system comprises a detection unit for detecting the traffic situation, a classification unit for determining the driver attention required depending on the traffic situation, and at least one actuator for generating steering torques on a steering wheel. Furthermore, the invention relates to a driver assistance system for carrying out the method. In order to propose a method for controlling a driver assistance system and a driver assistance system for carrying out the method which increases the information density for the driver, which contains information about the upcoming traffic situation, the following is provided according to the invention: a) detecting (10) a vehicle standstill in traffic; b) detecting the traffic situation; c) determining the driver attention required depending on the traffic situation; d) imposing (11) steering torques on the steering wheel (5) of the motor vehicle (1), wherein the instantaneous frequency and/or amplitude of the steering torques is set as a function of the detected traffic situation; e) varying (12) the frequency and/or the amplitude of the steering torques after detecting a changed traffic situation which requires changed driver attention, wherein the frequency of the steering torques is correlated with the required driver attention in such a way that a higher required driver attention is linked to a higher frequency and/or amplitude and vice versa.",
