SAME A battery module according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include: a plurality of battery cells capable of being charged and discharged; a module case having an inner space surrounded by a plurality of surfaces and an opening leading to the inner space, and configured to accommodate the plurality of battery cells in the inner space; and an end cover configured to cover the opening of the module case, wherein the module case may include an open portion provided on a first surface among the plurality of surfaces and configured to be opened by gas generated from a battery accommodated in the inner space and discharge the gas in a direction away from the end cover.
