An activator () for inflatable protective devices (), wherein the activator includes a case () in which a passage opening (B) for gas is defined and in which a perforator () movable between a first and a second operating position is housed. The perforator includes a base body () extending between a first surface (′) and an opposing second surface (″) from which a tip () emerges. The ratio between a minimum passage area of the passage opening (B) and an area of the second surface (″) is greater than 0.6.
