The apparatus includes a controller that supplies power to an alternating current (AC) outlet and controls an engine control unit (ECU) to operate the engine of the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) in the set power generation mode when a state of charge (SOC) of a battery does not exceed a threshold value. Therefore, it is possible to provide various power generation modes that satisfy the needs of a user and increase the operating efficiency of an engine to prevent unnecessary waste of energy.",
