The controller of the internal combustion engine is configured to increase the in-cylinder injection ratio in response to an integrated value of time during which the internal combustion engine has been operated in a target operation state reaching or exceeding a threshold, the target operation state being an operation state in which the in-cylinder injection ratio is 0% in a low-load low-speed operation region that is predetermined.",
