AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE PICKUP AND DROP-OFF MANAGEMENT
DRIVE
June 11, 2026
In one embodiment, a transportation system may receive a ride request including a pickup location and a drop-off location. The system may match the ride request to an autonomous vehicle. Subsequent to the autonomous vehicle arriving at the pickup location and a requestor entering the autonomous vehicle, the system may cause an in-ride graphical user interface (GUI) including a plurality of interactive elements to be displayed on the requestor computing device or an in-vehicle computing device. The system may receive, via the in-ride GUI, a user selection of a first interactive element corresponding to initiation of an autonomous ride and in response, the system may verify that the requestor is physically present within the autonomous vehicle and that the requestor is authorized to initiate the autonomous ride. Responsive to verification, the system may send a start instruction to the autonomous vehicle to begin navigating toward the drop-off location.
