The rotating structure (86) is operatively coupled to the open propulsor rotor (34). The rotating structure (86) includes a compressor rotor in the compressor section (65). The blade actuation system (48) is configured to adjust pitch of at least one of the open propulsor blades (42). A controller (110) is configured to control operation of the blade actuation system (48) during aircraft flight to tailor the pitch. The turbine engine (32) is configured to drive rotation of the open propulsor rotor (34) about the axis during a first mode of operation.
