The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, the positive electrode active material comprising a single-particle lithium transition metal oxide containing from 50 mol% to 70 mol% of nickel based on a total moles of transition metals, and satisfying Equation 1 below. Dv50/Dn50≥3.0In Equation 1, Dv50 is a volume-based average particle diameter of the positive electrode active material, and Dn50 is a number-based average particle diameter of the positive electrode active material.
