The method includes contacting a surface of the negative electrode with a solid electrolyte and applying a first pressure to form a first solid electrolyte layer on the negative electrode, applying additional solid electrolyte on a surface of the first solid electrolyte layer opposite a surface facing the negative electrode and applying a second pressure to form a second solid electrolyte layer on the surface of the first solid electrolyte layer, bringing a metal into contact with a surface of the second solid electrolyte layer opposite a surface facing the first solid electrolyte layer, charging the negative electrode during at least one initial cycle for a duration of time to form a pre-metalated negative electrode, and removing the metal from the surface of the second solid electrolyte layer.",
