BATTERY SYSTEM AND ELECTRIC VEHICLE INCLUDING THE BATTERY SYSTEM

The present disclosure refers to a battery system and an electric vehicle including the battery system. The battery system includes a plurality of battery cells stacked along a stacking direction and a fire extinguishing agent configured to generate fire extinguishing gases through an exothermic reaction above a predetermined temperature. Each of the plurality of battery cells includes a venting valve disposed on a terminal side of the battery cell arranged orthogonally to the stacking direction. The fire extinguishing agent is arranged to continuously extend above the terminal sides of the plurality of battery cells along the stacking direction. Furthermore, the fire extinguishing agent is configured to generate an amount of fire extinguishing gases which extinguishes at least one but less than the number of the plurality of battery cells above which the fire extinguishing agent continuously extends.
