A coating composition includes a modified melamine salt and a binder. An endothermic temperature of the modified melamine salt is lower than an endothermic temperature of an unmodified melamine salt as characterized by a differential scanning calorimetry curve. A difference between the two endothermic temperatures is Δt, 5° C.≤Δt≤100° C. This configuration enables the electrochemical device to exhibit excellent high-temperature storage performance and mechanical safety performance.
