The energy storage system includes: a cabinet; an energy storage device, disposed in the cabinet; a first sensing apparatus, disposed in the cabinet, and configured to sense a concentration of flammable gas in the cabinet; a ventilation apparatus, disposed on the cabinet, where the ventilation apparatus is configured to exhaust the flammable gas from the cabinet; and a control apparatus, communicatively coupled to the first sensing apparatus and the ventilation apparatus, and configured to: receive first sensing information indicating the concentration of the flammable gas from the first sensing apparatus, and generate, based on the first sensing information, a signal for controlling the ventilation apparatus. According to the solution of this disclosure, before a fire occurs in the energy storage system, an active preventive measure can be used to reduce an occurrence possibility of the fire, and further avoid occurrence of ignition and explosion accidents.",
