The invention relates to a sealing and locking device (20) for doors of public transport vehicles which have at least one door leaf arranged in a door frame, comprising a sealing element (22) which - is arranged on at least one of the closing edges of the door frame (XY) and the door leaf facing each other in the closed state of the door and is fixed to the vehicle frame, - has a locking unit (26) which cooperates with a locking means (28) arranged fixedly on the door leaf, - has internally a band element running along the closing edge of the door frame and movable translationally in the longitudinal direction, which connects the locking unit (26) with a drive unit for the movement of the band element, and a locking unit (26) which - has a slider (36) which is firmly connected to the band element and is translationally movable by the latter into a locking position in which the slider (36) blocks the locking means (28) arranged on the door leaf and thus the door leaf and an open position in which the locking means (28) arranged on the door leaf is movable unobstructed in an opening direction of the door leaf, - has a substantially closed housing (34) in which the slider (36) is movably mounted and which has a band passage opening for the band element and a locking means opening for moving the locking means (28) in and out.
