The present invention relates to a method for piloting an aircraft (1) having at least two engines (10) burning fuel and a transmission chain (25) connected to a rotary wing (5), each engine (10) having a power shaft (20) connected to the transmission chain (25). An energy-saving phase comprises at least one economy period (STPASY) comprising a regulation with a regulation system (55) of an active engine among the at least two engines (10) at an active speed and a stop or a regulation with the regulation system (55) at a rest speed of each non-active engine among the at least two engines (10) which is not the active engine.
