Spoke (1) for a bicycle (100) and wheel rim (101, 102) with a spoke (1), wherein the spokes (1) have a spoke body (2) with two spaced-apart ends (3, 4). A rim-side end (3) of the spoke body (2) is connected to a rim and the other, hub-side end (4) is connected to the hub (108). The spoke body (2) is elongated and has, over a longitudinal region (7) in a longitudinal direction (5) of the spoke body (2), a flattened cross-section (43) accommodated in a longitudinal plane (6). The spoke body (2) has in a first end section (11) at the hub-side end (3) transverse to the longitudinal plane (6) a first end section thickness (21). The spoke body (2) has in a second end section (14) at the rim-side end (4) transverse to the longitudinal plane (6) a second end section thickness (24). The spoke body (2) has in a first middle region (12) arranged closer to the first end section (11) than to the second end section (14) transverse to the longitudinal plane (6) a first middle region thickness (22) which is smaller than the first end section thickness (21). The spoke body (2) has in a second middle region (13) arranged closer to the second end section (14) than to the first end section (11) the flattened cross-section (43), wherein the second middle region (13) has a second middle region thickness (23) transverse to the longitudinal plane (6) which is smaller than the first middle region thickness (22).
