The engine includes a fuel injection valve (6) having a first nozzle hole (6a1) and a second nozzle hole (6a2), and an ignition device (5) disposed at a position through which the swirling flow flows, and which is at the downstream side of the flow of the swirling flow from an extension line (610) of the first nozzle hole (6a1) and at the upstream side of the flow of the swirling flow from an extension line (620) of the second nozzle hole (6a2), for igniting a spray of fuel injected from the fuel injection valve (6). The first nozzle hole (6a1) and the second nozzle hole (6a2) are formed in such a manner that the shortest distance from the extension line (610) of the first nozzle hole (6a1) to the ignition device (5) is longer than the shortest distance from the extension line (620) of the second nozzle hole (6a2) to the ignition device (5).",
