In a multiple cylinder supercharged engine, a throttle, which is located downstream of a compressor driven by a turbine provided in an exhaust passage, through which exhaust gas of a cylinder group flows, is operated to a fully closed state, when all the cylinders of said cylinder group are deactivated during the reduced cylinder operation, and also, a fuel injection amount of at least one cylinder included in said cylinder group is made smaller than a fuel injection amount of a cylinder included in a cylinder group except said cylinder group, and said at least one cylinder of said deactivated cylinder group is (re-)operated temporally, in order to increase the rotational speed of the compressor, so that a value of pressure of an upstream side of the throttle is controlled to a value, which is equal to or larger than a value of pressure of a downstream side of the throttle.
