The invention relates to a fuel injector (10), in particular a common rail injector, with an injector housing (11) in which a high-pressure chamber (15) is formed, which can be supplied with pressurized fuel via a supply bore (19) arranged in the injector housing (11), with at least one injection opening (12) formed in the injector housing (11) and at least indirectly connected to the high-pressure chamber (15) for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, with an injection member (16) that opens or closes the at least one injection opening (12), and with a measuring device (30) for at least indirectly detecting the pressure in the high-pressure chamber (15) or the supply bore (19), wherein the measuring device (30) is designed to detect an elastic deformation of a deformation region (27) of the injector housing (11) that is arranged in operative connection at least indirectly with the supply bore (19) or the high-pressure chamber (15), wherein the measuring device (30) comprises a piezoelectric element (31), and wherein the piezoelectric element (31) has at least two electrode layers (34, 35) with a piezoceramic layer (36) arranged between them. According to the invention, it is provided that a plurality of electrode layers (34, 35), preferably between 10 and 100, stacked one above the other and aligned parallel to one another, are provided with respectively interposed piezoceramic layers (36), and that the opposite end faces of the piezoelectric element (31) are each provided with an insulation layer (37, 38).
