A reaction force output device (10) that outputs a reaction force to an operation unit (5) includes: a motor (12) as a drive source configured to create the reaction force; a reaction force transmission unit (13) configured to transmit the reaction force to the operation unit (5); and a clutch mechanism (19) disposed between the motor (12) and the reaction force transmission unit (13) and configured to set the motor (12) and the reaction force transmission unit (13) to a disengaged state or an engaged state depending on a driving state of the motor (12).
