Embodiments relate to a control device (1) for marking a plurality of possible targets (30, 23, 33, 72) in a map section (31) on a display surface (3). The control device (1) comprises an input device (4). This is designed to receive a category selection signal (35). The category selection signal (35) corresponds to a selection by a user. Furthermore, the category selection signal (35) comprises information about a selected category of possible primary targets (32). The control device (1) also comprises a controller (6). This is designed to generate a display signal (37) in response to the category selection signal. The display signal (37) causes a display of possible primary targets (32) in the map section (31). The display signal (37) corresponds to the information of the selected category. Furthermore, the display signal also causes a display of secondary targets (33) of at least one other category in the map section (31), wherein the representation of the primary targets (32) of the selected category differs from the representation of the secondary targets (33) of the other category.
