The method comprises the steps of: - defining a screen background graphic (11) for a display device (2) of the vehicle, - automatically detecting that a predefined area (12) of the wallpaper (11) would be obscured by foreground content (13, 14, 15, 16), and in response thereto - automatically repositioning the wallpaper (11) relative to the foreground content (13, 14, 15, 16) to prevent obscuration of the area (12) by the foreground content (13, 14, 15, 16).
